PODCAST: Greg Lee’s Blend of Ancient Wisdom and Modern Lyme Healing

Aug 05, 2025

For people suffering from chronic Lyme disease, the road to recovery is often long, frustrating, and filled with trial and error. Mainstream medicine offers specific and often limited relief, especially when co-infections, neurological symptoms, and treatment resistance are involved.

That’s why I invited Greg Lee, founder of the Lyme Research Center in Frederick, Maryland, to join me on the Love, Hope, Lyme podcast.

Over the past 30 years, Greg has helped more than a thousand patients by combining traditional Chinese medicine, electrical frequency therapies, herbal treatments, and regenerative healing strategies delivered through a system that targets root causes and restores vitality.

A former NASA engineer, Greg didn’t start his career in medicine. But after facing debilitating digestive issues and brain fog that conventional care couldn’t fix, he found his calling through acupuncture and herbal healing.

“My acupuncturist helped me see how food, stress, and lifestyle were all affecting my body. As I got better, I realized I wanted to help others the same way,” he say.

His clinic now offers an integrative, step-by-step approach for people whose lives have been derailed by Lyme and co-infections. Below are five core pillars of his healing philosophy designed to restore energy, kill infections, repair damage, and help patients reclaim their lives.

Scan the Terrain First—Not Every Problem Starts with Infection

When a patient walks into the Lyme Research Center, they aren’tdiately handed a bottle of herbs or put on an antimicrobial protocol. Instead, Greg begins with something that looks like science fiction but plays a vital diagnostic role: a non-invasive electrical scan that reads the energetic frequencies of the body.

“You just place your hand on the device, and it scans over a thousand possible issues—from Borrelia and Bartonella to parasites, mycotoxins, neurotransmitters, brain inflammation, and methylation imbalances,” Greg explained.

Why is this important? Because many patients, especially those in the chronic stage, are dealing with more than just infection. They’re exhausted. Their detox pathways are blocked. Their nervous systems are overloaded. And in many cases, they’ve been on antibiotics for years with limited improvement.

Greg emphasized the importance of figuring out what the body needs first. “We don’t just try to kill everything at once. That often backfires. We look for what’s most urgent and what’s blocking recovery. We then build from there,” he said.

This scanning technology helps Greg create a roadmap for each individual, showing which areas need support before moving on to antimicrobial or regenerative therapies.

Rebuild Energy Before You Detox or Kill Infections

One of the most common themes Greg sees in chronic Lyme patients is deep mitochondrial depletion. In simple terms, he says “they’re out of gas.”

“You need energy to heal and to detox, to think clearly, to move, even to digest food. That’s why we focus on restoring vitality before doing anything else,” he said.

This is where frequency-specific microcurrent therapy comes into play. Using pads or damp towels that conduct precise electrical pulses, Greg and his team stimulate organs and tissues to repair, regenerate, and release inflammation. Each part of the body, whether it’s the liver, brain, thyroid, or blood, has its own resonant frequency. By matching that with frequencies that promote healing or inhibit pathogens, they help patients begin to feel better even before traditional treatments are introduced.

“We often use the vitality frequency, 49 hertz, in combination with frequencies that target the adrenals or vagus nerve. That helps stabilize patients whose systems are stuck in fight-or-flight mode,” he explained.

Greg shared how this approach can restore sleep, lift brain fog, and reduce pain and, thus, laying a foundation for deeper work ahead. “It’s like charging a dead phone battery. You’ve got to get the energy back before the apps start working again.”

Use Photoactivated Antimicrobials to Target the Brain and Beyond

Once the patient’s energy returns and inflammation is under control, Greg introduces powerful antimicrobials that are activated by light. He uses compounds like methylene blue, curcumin, and riboflavin, not just for their chemical effects, but for how they respond to specific light frequencies.

For instance, methylene blue can be taken orally and then activated by 670nm LED light to dramatically enhance its antimicrobial power, especially against neurological infections like Bartonella and Candida.

“We’ve seen patients feel their symptoms clear across the brain during a light session. It’s remarkable,” he said. “One of the lights we use was developed for NASA.”

Curcumin and riboflavin can also be photoactivated. This allows Greg to tailor antimicrobial effects based on the patient’s scan results, targeting organisms like Babesia, Borrelia, and mycoplasma more effectively and with fewer side effects than traditional drugs.

He emphasized that while these therapies may sound futuristic, they’re rooted in research. “Studies show that photoactivation increases the antimicrobial effect of these compounds. We’re just applying it clinically in a more sophisticated way,” he said.

Deliver Remedies Deeper with Microparticles and Bee Venom

Getting treatments into the brain, deep tissue, or under biofilms is one of the biggest challenges in Lyme care. That’s why Greg uses microparticle delivery systems such as liposomes and other tiny carriers that help herbs, essential oils, and other remedies cross barriers that standard pills can’t.

Essential oils like oregano, clove, cinnamon, and especially garlic have been shown in studies to be effective against Lyme pathogens. But it’s their delivery that makes the difference.

“We encapsulate them in microparticles, sometimes using DMSO as a driver. This helps them reach the nervous system or hidden infection reservoirs,” he explained.

One standout story involved a woman with severe oral Bartonella who had tried everything. Greg developed a garlic essential oil remedy in microparticle form that finally brought her relief. “She told me, ‘I’m 90% better after six months,’” he recalled.

Another groundbreaking approach is intranasal bee venom therapy. Greg shared the story of a brilliant 20-year-old patient whose memory had vanished due to neurological Babesia. Antibiotics hadn’t worked, but after a scan revealed Babesia in his nervous system, Greg tried intranasal bee venom.

The result? A dramatic Herxheimer reaction, followed by the sudden return of long-lost memories.

“He called me and said, ‘I’m remembering things I haven’t remembered in three years.’ We repeated the treatment, and now he’s thriving. He’s running his own company, and is healthy, and clear-headed,” Greg said.

Caution: Greg stresses that bee venom must be administered by trained professionals due to its intensity and risk.

True Healing Requires Lifestyle Shifts—And Spiritual Connection

While Greg uses cutting-edge tools, he’s just as committed to the basics: diet, sleep, and emotional well-being.

“We tell patients to cut out inflammatory foods such as sugar, wheat, dairy, processed stuff. Almost every person who strays from that and eats something like wedding cake comes back saying, ‘I’ll never do that again,’” he said.

Many patients also struggle with sleep due to toxins, glutamate imbalances, or hidden parasites. Greg uses his scan to identify underlying issues and supports detox before addressing those infections directly.

He also honors the emotional toll of Lyme disease: depression, isolation, and shame that often go unspoken. For those struggling spiritually, Greg encourages reconnecting with their inner self, what some traditions call the divine within.

“In many healing traditions, there’s the belief that there’s a place inside you untouched by illness. When people begin to access that, through prayer, meditation, or intention, we often see faster progress,” he said.

Final Thoughts

Greg Lee’s work is a reminder that healing from Lyme disease is rarely linear and almost never one-dimensional. By combining technology, ancient medicine, modern research, and heart-centered care, he offers hope to patients who’ve felt forgotten by the system.
